Gimmie Some Mo!

November plays host to a number of great events every year; Thanksgiving, Black Friday, pre-Holiday decorating, the list goes on and on. For the sports fan, there is the World Series (Go Cubs!), zombie lovers are already enjoying the newest Walking Dead season in full swing, and fashionistas will spend at least 8.3 minutes trying to decide which pair or Ray Bans will go best with their kitten-patterned sweaters. Oh yea, we get to pick our President too. All of these are great, but as an adult male whose mother tells him far too often that he needs to shave, I’m looking forward to Movember here at BamBams.

That’s right, mom. You get one day of my clean shaven mug while I grow a Mo to save a bro. In case you’re not hip to this phenomenon, Movember is an annual event involving the growing of mustaches during the month of November to raise funding and awareness for men’s health, with a focus on depression and types of various cancers, such as Prostate Cancer. The Movember Foundation runs the Movember charity event, housed at All of us here at BamBams tend to really enjoy any opportunity to help, and when a chance to spend 30 days in friendly facial hair competition come along its hard not to want to hop aboard the hype train. I’ve been walking around the office all week asking people if they’re planning to join me in my quest to become a Mo Bro and the results are in folks! To give y’all an idea of how hard I’ve been working on this, I’ve listed a few results below:

  • Ben: “You know I’m ready for Mo”
  • Danny: “Is there a prize at the end?” (I offered him a Wendy’s Frosty…he’s in)
  • Brock: “Ashley is going to hate this, you’re going to have to explain it to her. I’m in”
  • Zack: “I can’t wait to have a tickler on my face!”
  • Katie: “I can’t grow a mustache…”
  • Chelsey: “That’s rude, I’m a girl!”

So- despite the ladies’ lack of team spirit, I think that Movember here at BamBams is going to be a success. It’s definitely going to add to the fun of being here- knowing that come December, myself along with a little over half of BamBams staff are going to look as though we were plucked right out of a 1980’s Police drama (I’m looking at you, Magnum, P.I.).

But wait, there’s mo! In the next couple weeks, I’ll be giving you all some updates of our journey to support men’s health. Maybe even some pictures, but it’ll come down to how skilled we’ve become in sculpting the ‘stache into something we’re proud of. Buckle up, November is going to be wild. Are you doing your part?! Show us! Send us your best super ‘stache pics on Twitter, with the hashtag #gimmiesomemo! We’ll pick our favs and give you a shout out in the end of Movember blog. Until then- have fun!

Oh, and obviously, our entire goal is to raise money for Men’s Health. You can donate to team BamBams here by doing so, you will receive 10% off your next order! Get in touch with Ben Taylor for your discount code!
